QSW, Meet Soho.

Personally, I enjoy it when a little bit of the West Coast invades Soho.  If ever I'm feeling a little homesick for California, I'll traipse down Spring Street and visit the Big Bear (a.k.a. American Apparel).  Now, a new destination lands on Mercer Street, Quiksilver opened up mini-storefront (within its existing store) where its women's collection takes up residence in 800-square feet.  QSW Mercer has its own private entrance (see photo below) and will showcase and sell Quiksilver's women's collection from dresses to knit tops, summer tee's and items and handbags co-designed by Lesa Wallace.

The cobblestone street and cozy interiors almost gives it a reflective London pop vibe, but maybe it's the black and white prints on the walls, photographs taken by CC Sheffield exclusively for the Quiksilver woman who find herself going through various "journeys."  The intimate lounge area also serves up sparkling water and champagne, now that's certainly very Soho.

Insider: Catlin Rawling

name: Catlin Rawling

occupation: Quiksilver Women's Marketing Manger

hometown: Grew up on the Connecticut shoreline
homebase: Costa Mesa, California (The O.C.)

you're formerly a new yorker, what are some things you wish could be imported from manhattan to l.a.? Believe it or not, the subway. The traffic in California is horrific and I stink at driving. You're never bored in Manhattan, there's something to do and see the minute you step outside your door. In Cali, you have to drive everywhere. Also, miss late nigths at Employees Only.

best part of your job? Quiksilver women's collection is new, but the brand has been around for over 30 years and the fun, adventurous spirit trickles down into the women's ethos. I work and collaborate with creative, smart and stylish women and have an amazing opportunity to be extremely creative and work across all platforms that include advertising, Public Relations, website, retail, events and social networks.

in one sentence describe the Quiksilver lifestyle: Beach is in our blood, but it doesn't define our style.

what are the style differences between L.A. & New York City girls? BLACK. I always wore black in NYC and the weather is too nice here to not be colorful. My heels also look brand new, because it's all about flip-flops and flats. Sometimes, a girl just wants to throw on some #^@& boots, but around here I'd look like a hooker.

favorite brunch, dinner & drink spots in L.A.?
I'm ghetto, I love fish taco stands.

what did you wear to work today? Quiksilver women's Taylor tank and grey cardigan, Frye mid-calf boots and a tight navy mini skirt.

3 Quiksilver staples that you think every girl (east & west) should have in their closet right now? Meg tank in electric blue - it has buttons as a center back seam and looks killer with a pair of Quiksilver women's tight skinny jeans and black booties. Any of our dresses, they can go from day to night and can sit in any fashionista's closet next to her peep toe Louboutins.

Graphic tee's, they are eco-friendly, super soft and aesthetically pleasing.

C'mon, surfboard, but I like to boogie.

Quiksilver Launches Women's

The much anticipated women's line from Quiksilver is launching global in stores tomorrow, July 15th.  Quiksilver's Fall '08 women's collection is in ode to women who've been "along for the ride" essentially for the surfer/boardrider's cool looking girlfriend. Everyday pieces for that laid-back but adventurous Cal-Surf lifestyle.

Quiksilver has always created a laid-back casual and active line for California residents. To celebrate their upcoming launch of a women's collection, Quiksilver creates a visionary work space for six independent and creative women to be "Visionaries in Residence." QuikSilver's siteLA is an 1,800 square foot of communal work space in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. QuikSilver will give these women the support, resources and exposure needed to drive their individual personal projects. Through the weeks, we'll be featuring each of the creative geniuses for an in-depth look into their creative work space.
