Happy Birthday Andy

Happy belated 80th birthday Andy Warhol...

Just think,  if he was never born, what would iconic even look like?

He gave us underground music...

The Velvet Underground with Nico

and of course at the highlight of his career if not life ...

(song: After Hours by The Velvet Underground)

Insider: Matthew Llewellyn

name: Matthew Llewellyn

occupation: Director of Visual Merchandising at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

hometown: Pueblo, Colorado
homebase: Manhattan

first job out of college? My first design job was a day freelance at Pentagram for my friend Cheree Berry.  The pressure was on and I knew this is what I loved to do. Late nights and then drinks afterwards.

a typical work day for you is... Coffee, meetings, putting out fires, 5pm becoming creative

most creative geniuses are accustomed to having an obsessive quirk, what's yours?
I love post-its.  It is how I stay organized, tag swipe and write all my notes.  Each project has a post-it.  Once you are done you throw it away.  It makes you feel like you have accomplished your goal.

what did you wear to work today? Dark denim and a Martin Margiela button down with white sneakers.

if you could describe the beauty industry in one word...
Fast paced (wait that is two words)

who are some of the influencers (fashion, design, beauty) today? I like to look at artists, designers and architects for inspiration: Andy Warhol, Tracey Emin, Jack Pierson, Ann Demeulemeester, Martin Margiela, Herzog and De Meuron

describe your work desk: I like to keep my desk clean. Rolodex, post-its, black pen and a Muji notebook.

three favorite songs in your iPod are....James Blunt: 1973, Missy Elliot: Pass That Dutch and Kanye West: Stronger.
