how did you two meet as a couple and then how or when did you decide to become business partners? Through mutual friends. We had a similar idea and being business partners came naturally.
mike & chris is known for and revolves around the contemporary hoody, which is the one article of clothing that remains throughout the seasons. with both of your diverse work backgrounds, what made you decide to embark on a standard fashion staple?
Necessity. Something we both always had in our closet, as did our friends. We decided this staple piece needed to be revamped. We kept it comfortable as a hoody should be and made sure the quality was high and added our signature buttons and custom made colors.
if you could work with only one fabric for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Fleece. Because after designing in fleece from hoodies to dresses for the past three years, I realize the possibilities are endless.
when was the moment that you both realized mike & chris, the line was becoming a success? When Ron Herman placed our first order and when Kate Moss was seen wearing one of our leathers.
what are the challenges and perks of being a husband and wife design duo?
A perk is knowing you can trust your business partner 110%. A challenge is keeping work out of the home.
rachel bilson has listed mike & chris as one of her favorite designer labels and she wears it often. as designers, how important or necessary is a high celebrity following? Very necessary, but the consumer's needs are equally important.
what do mike & chris, the couple like to do during their off-time?
When we're not chasing our kids around, a great meal and some quiet time is our favorite past time.

what did you both wear to work today?
I'm wearing jeans and a grey t-shirt with Vans and Chris is at home with the kids wearing a Mike & Chris dress from summer '08 and it's covered in baby drool.

i've spent many hours simply wearing their leather jackets while still in barneys. they're simply divine and absolutely filled with style and luxury. *sigh*
