A Thousand Things by Paul Weller

During my first family visit to Hong Kong, I was introduced to Paul Weller and The Style Council.  Still in pig-tails, I remember my early twenty-something cousins, Mia braiding my hair while Michelle danced around in a camisole and striped leggings to Walls Come Tumbling Down.  They weren't at all amused by the Madonna selection from my walkman, The Style Council was their band.  They were scheming on how they would escape the confines of HK to attend the first Live Aid Festival at Wembley Stadium in England. It was do or die trying. (At least that's how they conveyed it to me at that time) Training day for me, surely I was being groomed.

Paul Weller, the Modfather, has a limited edition book out,  A Thousand Things, which is a visual history of his stylish 30 year career in music.  The book features 350 photographs, some very rare and never seen before along with vintage fliers and posters.  The book at $500 is limited to 2,000 signed copies worldwide and includes four unreleased Jam demos on vinyl.  I hear the book is or will be sold at Paul Smith stores in the U.S.
By the way, my cousins Mia and Michelle did run off secretly to Live Aid and even sent me a limited edition concert book.  (Personally, I think the book was to shut me up, but it did get me to idolize music.)
