Metamorphoses of An American is Karl Lagerfeld's new photo book in which he traces the physical and emotional development of international male supermodel, Brad Kroenig.
Lagerfeld discovered him in 2003 and officially became his photographic lens muse thereafter. Through hundreds of photographs, he explores Kroenig's evolution from an "All American Young Boy" into a professional male model. There's also a bit of role playing as Kroenig and Lagerfeld collaborate to create a new persona. In pictures, Kroenig reinvents himself to be James Dean, Gatsby and Rudolph Valentino. There's nothing Zoolander about it. K.L.'s right though, they sure grow 'em nice in the middle states.
