That's No CBGB To Me

Is there any piece of a real New York City left? I guess not.
John Varvatos made a new home on the Bowery which used to
be resident to the greatest of musical legends such as
The Ramones, New York Dolls, Blondie, Talking Heads
and a list too long to mention.
My bit of nostalgia involves an overaged but one of all-time
best and true punk bands, The Vibrators back in early 2000.
(Don't ever tell my mom)
What used to be CBGB's is now the high-end menswear
boutique, John Varvatos. The designer has reserved old
1970's flyers behind a glass case along the walls and what was
once the stage is now meant for tailoring, but surrounded
by Alice Cooper records. Also to the side of the stage was
a young girl from the West Village singing
in unison, "Baby, baby, baby!" There goes that bit of
nostalgia again.

The designer's goals are to combine music, fashion and
memorabilia into one cultural space. And while you're
there let's have you spend a load of money.

We'll see how this all sits with the Punk Gods, so until
then it's another new great thing on the Bowery to check out.
