what designer first popped your "cherry" - You're going to laugh or think I'm 1,000 years old, but I really connected with Edith Head, the real deal costume designer for Paramount Pictures winning 8 Academy Awards. She created and molded people's "image" through fashion. I realized how clothing creates a character and how it can really transform someone; create a feeling, invoke a reaction. I grew up during the most fun time in fashion - people were doing all kinds of things, but I loved the presentation/drama/bravado of 90's designers - Gaultier, Lagerfeld, Alia, Mugler, Westwood. The auto bustier with handlebars by Mugler??? I mean, c'mon!

what was your first job in fashion? I worked as a...

as the former fashion director of teen people magazine, what made you transition into styling? Putting together fashion stories, thankfully came naturally to me. And I loved being in studio, collaborating with the photographer, hair and makeup. Making an image come to life from an idea that translates through clothing. So, I just kept on going. I love working with people and being creative.

what is the stylist's job? Keeping things moving people! No, seriously. It's the person that creates the mood with clothing - getting the idea across, working with the photographer, hair & makeup people to create something that's incredible.

describe a typical day styling for a reality t.v. show - Well, we shoot 4 episodes a day for 4 days. We work on 12 episodes at once. It's a little hectic, but we get it all done. Let's say fittings, tons of digital images, shopping for about 16 looks per day...it's real hectic.

best place to people style watch in new york city? I'd say all over. You never know what you'll see and that's the beauty of it. Just today I saw this beautiful sun kissed waist long dreadlocked woman with a vintage top hat on. It was surreal, but loved it and thought, keep that in your image vault.

what's one article of clothing or accessory a person should rid from their closet - forever? CROCS!!! Unless...you are a chef in the kitchen or a gardener, they are hideous.

if you could be a personal stylist to an American Idol winner who would it be and why? Jordin Sparks is my kinda gal. She is smart, talented, pretty, kind and has a real body. Finally, someone who loves her curves and I know exactly how to make it look hot. It would be awesome to play dress up with her for sure.
